Hello all!
I have a part that was we designed for PEI 1010, including snap features and sliding (bushing) interfaces.
We are seeing more friction than desired in our assembly, so we are considering moving to PEI 4000 for some of the interfacing parts.
It would be simpler to change the main part to 4000, and there is a push to do that. My hesitation is the snap features. using several cantilever beam type snaps, and I am concerned that I will lose retention force dues to a softer material, and less friction.
but, on looking at properties, I am confused.
flex modulus of 1000=509ksi; 4000=1280ksi
so, when we add teflon (soft and buttery) to PEI (nice and stiff), the result is a 2.5X stiffer material?
anyways, anyone have good experience with snaps in 4000?
