Hi guys,

I need to pile a house due to poor ground. I'm used to providing piles in groups of 2 and then span a ground beam between this 2 pile group pile cap. But this has been for larger commercial projects.

Other Engineers spec a serious of piles at 2.5m centres centred under the ground beams for house projects with a series of cross beams acting as a ties.

Anybody got issues with the 2nd option?

If it's domestic loading for normal (2-storey?) housing, mini-piles @ 2.5m c/s with 400 x 400 ground beams are usually OK.
