L.S.,
I was a bit surprised learning about the existence of a pitot tube pump. It might even be a worthy adversary of a side channel pump, as I have been told. Can anybody enlighten me about the pros and the contras of a pitot tube pump as I cannot find it in the literature available to me? Reason for my question is that I am considering this pump as an alternative for a current side channel pump. The side channel pump seems to be very sensitive to abrasive particles (<0.2mm). These are present in our condensate system, where the side channel pump is active.
I am gratefull for any hints or experiences with pitot tube pumps.

Yobbo, I work for Ruhrpumpen Pump Co. and we have pitot tube pumps as well.
Please let me know if I can help you in any way.

Hello diverdan8

Due to your message I search the internet but I couldn't find any pitot pumps at Ruhrpumpen. Maybe you can send me a set of data sheets about your pitot pumps?

Yobbo, Our company growth is outpacing our ability to get products uploaded to our website.
Out Combitube Pump (Pitot Pump) is our of the latest products we have cam eout with, I believe we introduced it in Oct.2011.
Hence the reason it is not on our website yet, as many other pumps we have as well.
However I have attached a couple of brochures on the pump.
Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any further assistance.

Diverdan8, thank your for the brochure. I am in the Netherlands,Europe so I think the best way to contact Ruhrpumpen is in Germany,am I right? If that doesn''t work out I will come back to you.

Yobbo,
I am very familiar with this pump and would be happy to answer your questions. In full disclosure my company has been manufacutering pitot tube pumps for over 50 years. You can find us at
Yes any grit in the working fluid will give you issues with any pitot tube pump. The head is developed by forcing the fluid at high velocity into a pitot tube. Any particlutes can erode the tube. The pump can handle some at a increased wear. The pitot tube will have to be replaced more often...so if it is possible to use the pitot tube pump in your application will depend on the amount of particulate present and your tolerance to periodically changing a pitot tube.

We do have sales representation in the Netherlands
