I'm looking for a readily available paper that will let air pass through but be strong enough to be written upon with a marking pen.
I have a 4' x 8' CNC router with vacuum bleed board material hold down. This means that a large volume of air comes up from below the work table surface, goes through an ultralight MDF spoilboard that has had the hardened faces skimmed off both sides and then holds sheet stock like plywood etc. in place that is set on top of the MDF spoilboard. With the sheet stock held firmly the Z-axis router head can cut out components from the plywood etc.without it sliding around.
There are a number of ways to locate the part you are cutting out on top of the spoilboard when the material blank is smaller than a 4x8 sheet. At a previous business that I owned I had an SL-Laser mounted on the ceiling that projected the part location down on the table surface. That showed where wood blank needed to be placed so that it would be cut out by the router.
That laser went with the sale of the business and now I want to use a different scheme for locating the material to be cut. I have in mind rolling out a sheet of paper over the MDF spoilboard upon which the part could be drawn with a marking pen mounted on the Z-axis. The vacuum air flow would go through the MDF spoilboard, then through the paper and then hold down the part.
Question is what kind of paper is available that will allow the air to flow through. Perforated comes to mind as one option; tissue might be another. However perforated paper.....if available.....might catch the marker point and tissue would be too flimsy for drawing upon with the marker.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
