I am looking for the details of a portable v notch weir that can be carried to site and used to monitor small streams of flow upto 0.5 cumecs.

I have seen these in a paper brochure but have lost, and now can't find anything similar on the net. Any leads?

Thanks for the links, both of above will be useful. Particular pice of kit I was looking for however looked like it was made of moulded aluminium and included not only the v-notch itself but also small upstream section to allow small pool to form..... maybe I dreamt it!

No, you weren't dreaming...The approach section to a weir is very important for accurate water flow measuring. What you saw was a flume. Do a search for "H Flume" and you'll see all sorts of manufacturers. Make sure you select the appropriate flume (H, HS or HL) for your anticipated flow range. If you want to build it yourself and can't find a good, free source on the internet, purchase a copy of the "Isco Open Channel Flow Measurement Handbook".

Perfect. Washigton State College (WSC) Flume was the one I was looking for. Many thanks.
