Power Output of a generator

Hi Guys,

A basic question about output power from a generator:

If I have a three phase generator supplying:

Red 10.5A
White 6.4A
Blue 9.5A

..and I take (240v*10.5)+(240v*6.4A)+(240v*9.5A) will this give me total power output in KW or in KVA? And then how does one get the other format?

Assuming that the machine is connected 415V/240V so you are measuring line-neutral, then that is correct. To calculate kW you'll need to know the power factor of the load, and if the load is non-linear then you'll also need to know the value of the fundamental component of the current.

Is there a formula to use for three phase that can make this calculation quicker?

For example 26.4Amps total. What equation can be used to calculate Total KVA?

For a balanced system
KVA=3*V*I, where V = line to neutral voltage, not line to line
KW=3*V*I*pf, where pf = power factor of system

For an unbalanced system, which is what you have, there is no shortcut.
