Hey Everyone,

I'm writing to see who (if anyone) uses RAM Concept for the design of two-way concrete slabs. I find that the program is able to give me solutions, but not completely practical ones. Is there anyone out there who uses this program to regularly design and compile their drawings? And if so, maybe we could exchange email address to discuss?

Thanks in advance.

I think SAFE only added cracked long term deflections about 2010, possibly a little earlier.

RE Mxy, Firstly it must be included in the design. It is not compatibility torsion that can be ignored, it is the non-symmetrical stresses in the concrete that cause it and the effects must be included to satisfy statics and equilibrium.
Adding to the problem, when allowing for cracking in deflections, the torsional stiffness should reduce as well as the flexural stiffness if you are going to reanalyse with cracked properties. To allow for this many designers use a reduced torsional stiffness in RAM and other FEM software.

I just keep it set to Wood-Armer. You can see it's significance when you audit cross sections.
