Predefine Item Number of a part in a ASSY draft 3

Hello,

Back in engineering college when we drafted by hand we used the following designation system:
If an assembly designated as XX_01.00 has three parts, then they are designated as XX_01.01 (part #1), XX_01.02 (part #2) and XX_01.03. (part #1). On the ASSY drawing the item numbers match the part designation numbers, so part #1 has an item number 1, part #2 has item nr 2 and so on.

In SolidEdge draft if I create an automatic Parts List then the item numbers are generated randmoly (or at least it seems that way). So is there a way to predefine item numbers already in the assembly file or in the part files?

Most CAD systems have a sort function on the BOM list. Play with that and see if you can get it to sort to your liking.

Hi Pekkeri,

Yes, you can assign items numbers. Here are the steps:

1. In the assembly model, go into settings/options and in the "item numbers" check "maintain item numbers"
2. In the draft file, right click on the BOM and in options, check the "use assembly generated item numbers"

In the assembly, you will need to right click on each part and go into "occurence properties" and assign item numbers to each unique part.

These steps will give you what you are looking for.
