Hello,

How to evaluate pressure drop on pump system because of strainer and piping friction?

Thank you

What do you mean exactly by "evaluate"?
Piping friction calculations are discussed in fluid mechanics textbooks. You can measure the dP across the strainer or ask the vendor for their pressure drop data for that model.

Strainer - generally a maximum fixed value - commonly 0.5 bar.

Pipe friction - Frictional losses calculated by various means depending on your fluid and your desire for accuracy.- search piping frictional losses calculation or pressure drop calculation.

Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

You ask the strainer manufacturer for the head loss at various flow rates and for convenience you use friction loss tables based on pipe size, flow rate, and pipe length and sum the two losses together not forgetting to include for bends, elbows, valves etc.

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)

Or ask Eng-Tips and someone might do it for free.

Mr Project Engineer, please be more specific about your issue. There is no value in us trying to such a question. More data required. And what do you do?
