Pressure Testing:

I have a plate cooler that will be built in situ offshore (but not in its final location) and the intention would be to complete a hydrostatic test when the unit build is complete.

The unit itself will not be moved into its final location for some months (many reasons) but on doing so, is is advisable to re- strength test, or would a leak test suffice>

will it be disassembled for the move ?

another day in paradise, or is paradise one day closer ?

Thanks for your prompt response - no the intention would be to skid it into location fully assembled

Tbe only thing that I can think of that would upset a plate heat exchanger would be any impact or load that bends the edges of the plates. In this case a visual inspection should be sufficient.

Thanks for the feedback. This was my take on it too

Assuming you don't leave it with pools of something that's aggressive when stagnant lying around inside it.

IMO, it's a potential risk that the plate cooler may be failed in the test. And, this may be resulted in the additional cost for repair work, the completion schedule delay, etc.
