Is there someone confirming that 100 $/kW is a good figure to roughly evaluate the price of air-cooled chillers for air-conditiong application in the range 600-1200 kW of refrigeration (170-340 RT)?

Thanks in advance.

I checked in Means Cost Data the air cooled recip chiller 150-200 TR comes in around $500/TR or ~$145/kw.
You could confirm with your local chiller rep.

I would advise using caution with Means; especially equipment. I would call a rep up and get a quote.

I concur with Walkes. We buy chillers at about a £100/kw of cooling capability which is a reasonable budget.

The water-cooled chiller is about $200/ton, equipment only. I would guess air-cooled would be around $150/ton. Check with your local rep.

It's not too difficult to get a quote for a chiller only from any of the manufacturers.

There are also the problems associated with "sweet spots" in certain manufacturing ranges of products for different products. For example, the price for a 175TR air-cooled chiller of Carrier may be relatively lower per TR as compared to the price of a 190TR unit, since this is probably the starting size of the next higher "chassis". The 175TR would be the biggest size in the smaller chassis. The differences can be significant in terms of "per TR or KW" prices, if one were to go by thumb rule. This must be true for other manufacturers too like Trane or York or McQuay, who may have different sweet spots.
