I am fairly decent in Excel and Lotus. I have used Excel for years and have gotten fairly decent at it. The only problem that I have with Excel is the way it prints. At work my boss prefers to use Lotus. the only advantage that Lotus has that excel does not that I have not been reasonably able to overcome is this. When I print a large spread sheet in excel, excel does not remember between sessions what it has printed causing me to respecify everytime what I need. Also, I have a large amount of side calculations that I don't want to appear. Hiding the cells does not appear to be the best option because any data linked to a graph gets hidden from the graph as well. When I print with Lotus, it saves the printing information between sessions for each file. Also it has the ability to print only the first "column" of pages from each worksheet, and not have to print the entire contents of a worksheet before it will move on to the next worksheet.

I wrote a short macro once for excel that would make it print like this, but it doesn't work well for print previews and header and footer changes. Does anyone else have this problem, or do you just work around it since this is the way it has always been?

Would using the "Print Area" functionality work in your application?

I think it has potentitial to work, but when you are using layered worksheets, and adding and subtracting from them on a fairly regular basis it can become frustrateing and time consuming. My bosses attitude is that is lotus will do it for you with no real effort, why not use lotus? I do think that Excel is better in almost every regard except this one.
