Dear all,

I am doing a simulation of nanoindentation. I have setup a axisymmetry model in which a indenter press onto a specimen with displacement. I have couple nodes so that I can obtain the reaction force. However, while I compare the data with Hertzian analysis, I found that they are not agree with each other (I have multiple the reaction force from ansys with two pi to get the total reaction as it is a axisymmetry model). I really don't know what I have done wrong with it. Is there anything I have done wrong?

Hope anyone can help me out.
Thank you very much!!!

Jeff

Hello,
Did you make sure of the units? Did you go through the verification manual (VM 63) where they have a classic hertz example. Maybe that might help?

harry,

I have found that there is no need to mulitple the value with 2 pi as the reaction force i have got is the total one. Thank you very much for you help.
