Hello,

I work in a company on Peru that we buy stainless steel over the world. We bought plates of different thicknesses, lengths and width. Our principal supplier is in Asia and I would like to know what kind of Astm standard for tolerances should I need to use. I am currently using the ASTM A480 for measure the tolerance but in the standard does not specify with accuracy tolerance for plates greater than 8mm.

Thanks.

For plates in stainless steel see ASTM A-240
for CS/LA see ASTM A-20

Thanks for you information IJZER.

I would like to know what difference exist in the thickness tolerances between the norm ASTM A-240 y la ASTM A-480.

Thanks again.

For plates per ASTM A 240 the tolerances on wall thickness are found in ASTM A 480 table A2.17 ( or A3.17 if Si units are required). Tolerance depends on thickness {table goes up to 254 mm) and plate width.
