Hi, I have been trying to replicate furnace heating of a concrete block in ABAQUS, with the mode of heat transfer used as convection. I have temperature-time data in the amplitude, transient step, temperature related input such as density, conductivity, and specific heat. But every time I ran the job, the result I obtained would show a nodal temperature of over 40,000 degree celcius. Even though the maximum temperature amplitude was 600 degree celcius at 272 seconds (the step is run for 272 seconds). Anyone has a clue on the out of order results I keep receiving?

(I have attached my ABAQUS file)
Best Regards

The file is from a student edition. I can't open that.

Sometime nonphysical temperature oscillation occur when the mesh is too coarse.

I have noticed that I got this type of warning.

"OUTPUT AT EXACT, PREDEFINED TIME POINTS WAS REQUESTED IN THIS STEP. Abaqus MIGHT ADJUST THE TIME INCREMENTATION BUT WILL NOT VIOLATE THE MINIMUM TIME INCREMENT ALLOWED IN THE STEP IN ORDER TO WRITE OUTPUT AT THOSE POINTS. CONSEQUENTLY, IN SOME CASES Abaqus MIGHTWRITE OUTPUT IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE SPECIFIED TIME POINTS, INSTEAD OF AT THE TIME POINTS. IN ADDITION, THE NUMBER OF INCREMENTS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE STEP WILL IN GENERAL INCREASE."

Could this be responsible for my temperature being through the roof?

No. This has nothing to do with the values, just with the output time.

What I've seen - you apply a max temp of 12000, not 600.
