Would it be acceptable to use a soil report to design a retaining wall when the borings drilled are 3500 ft away from the retaining wall?

I would think an additional soil report would be required when the nearest boring is 3500 ft away, but I figured I would get another opinion.

Suggestions/comments are appreciated.

3500 ft = 2/3 of a mile away. ah, no, the soils could be completely different over that distance.

Most geotech reports in these environs have a disclaimer that the information is valid only at the location of the boring. The testhole is too far away to be meaningful. If you have fairly uniform soil, then 100' distance, may be too far away.

I hate when they get a boring in the front yard for a back yard deck. 2/3 of a mile is like 3 towns away in NJ!
