Purchase catia v5 software

My company wanted to purchase a catia v5 seat.
FYI, I have catia v4 right now.

I wanted to know how does the purchasing the catia v5 works?

I have to buy the software from Dassault systems or need to ask their distributor?
Is it possible to that each distributor has different prize like with dealer when buying a vehicle?

Depends upon where you are. In the US, you by CATIA from IBM or one of the other Software Partners such as Rand, Incat, etc.
I'm not sure who the re-sellers are in other countries.

Does having catia v4 will help me to save some amount of cost & if yes how?

I believe that if you do not want to use v4 anymore you may be able to convert that license to a v5 license and there are substantial savings.

You may convert your V4 license to V5, just watch what disclaimers are on the quote. You can easily add a V5 license and keep your V4, but with the market swiftly shifting to V5, start converting.

As far as a "Prize", I am unaware of Dassault having anything like this, but it would not surprise me if they do.

This is just a guess, but you may get slightly different qoutes. The biggest thing to watch for is the configuration (i.e. make sure that they are all qouting the same exact license configuration) and the "Services".

In a lot of ways, buying CATIA (or any large software package for that matter) is a lot like buying a car. There are tons of options, lots of service agreements, and discounts awarded depentant upon the amount of business you do with them and how hungry the salesman is.
