Taking a look at the redlined drawing. A STOP push button is to be installed in series there. Would it be proper to take off the thermal switch there before installation or how else can it be installed without removing the thermal switch?

There's already a normally closed Stop button in that rung. Why add a 2nd?

Yes there is but the new addition is to shutdown a motor for emergency reasons on the switchgear panel in an MCC. What are your thoughts

My thoughts? A bit weird.

NO! You don't remove the thermal switch. You want another Stop ADD it don't replace something. For a logical solution you should put it right at the existing Stop switch. Either splice in or remove one side and series it with the new switch.

I agree, why remove the thermal switch? It’s there for a reason!

Just put the extra Stop button in series anywhere on that rung. On remote Stop buttons like that, I prefer to use a latching version that requires a key to unlatch it so that you know where the Stop command came from. It tends to prevent mischief.
