Hello everyone.

The system bellow is used to wind the cartoon strip. We will use the same system, but it will be placed vertical. That is why I need to add a second sheet metal plate on the right side of the yellow part, so that when in vertical position the cartoon strip won't fall off.

What are some easy assembly and disassemble ideas for the second sheet metal?

When the winding will be done, the worker will have to remove the winded strip. So the second sheet metal plate needs to be easy to remove. I was thinking about using star grip, or some magnets on the sheet metal. What are some other ideas?

Our 3D printer material spools (Markforged) use magnets and they seem to work very well - simple and no mechanism to wear out.

Look at what used to be used to hold audio and video tape reels in place.
It was either little wire flat springs or a simple toggle latch.
This was solved a long time ago.

Maybe see what is available in an industrial equipment catalog. There's probably all kinds of off-the-shelf winding equipment available.

Look at labeling machines, identical application.
