I have come up with a working model of 7 stories mid-rise and here is the look of it.

Enclosed in the bottom is the concrete report of the beam standardizes across the whole building. The building is moment frame and the beams are moment connections to the shear walls. The beam is designed by Midas Design+ and the size of the beam is 46" by 5' which is a bit large. The building storey is 14' high. I am asking is the beam checks out with your experience. The beam is 9 meters long which gives a clear span for the entire suite.

Any comment is welcome.

Stanley,

If you can't do a quick hand calc. to determine if the beam is within the ballpark, then you should not be using software to design a building.

I’ve seen a number of recent posts which suggest a concerning lack of In house mentoring..

No one here can answer the above.. is it seismic? Is this a carpark or elephant storage warehouse?! Etc..

This is the extension of (two) old threads. OP is relying on Midas design software and engineering service to do the works for him, who is seemly a developer with some structural education/background. Do a search on the topic will bring up the old threads.

Can we get this one "on spec" as well?

What is meant by your disclaimer?!!

I believe the intent of this forum is for structural engineers to discuss and bounce ideas with each other. Please avoid using the forum to get free engineering consulting advice.

If you need engineering advice, may it be preliminary or detailed, please hire the services of an experienced structural engineer (or not, depends if you want your building to stand)
