Hey Team,
I'm after a bit of advice regarding Cl2.2.3 (b)(ii). We have a shear wall where the vertical bars are tied together with legs at every 200mm spacing. My question is what value of β would you use? The code stipulates 'in regions where effective confining reinforcement is provided, β shall be evaluated by rational calculations taking account of the amount of confining steel and the details used, but shall no exceed two'
In summary I'm trying to obtain a value of β=0.75 but we obviously need to justify this and reference something. We can't make random numbers up .
