Recommended for you

Hazen-Williams, Darcy, Reynolds and Moody don't sound German? Not saying all their work wasn't translated but there were plenty of researchers in England before WWII. Of course the French had Pascal & Pouseille as well.

I'm not [quite] old enough to have been there. The information I related above was as presented to me in grad school by way of introduction (and explaination as to why we were using a fairly poor translation of Schlicting's Boundary Layer Theory as a text). I never had reason to question it. Still don't.

"Prejudice" is having an opinion not supported by the preponderance of the data.
"Knowledge" is only found through the accumulation and analysis of data.
 
Then there's that Bernoulli guy...though they say he just ripped off Euler.
