Good day to all,
For rectangular vessel(Header box), I am aware that one should apply Appendix 13 as per ASME code. However if my hydrotest value is higher than 1.3*design pressure* LSR, how do I validate that the vessel strength is acceptable at the higher pressure theoretically. For cylindrical shape, the program I am using applies hydrotest condition for the same formulaes provided in section VIII and compared stress <0.9SY. I used to think i can follow likewise for rectangular vessel but now i am feeling doubtful. Thank you for any advice!

Yours Sincerely
L.Y

See App. 13-16, which diverts back to subsect A for Inspection. The rules of UG-99 apply.
