Regarding the conversation in thread859-310599; does anyone know of someone or would be willing to convert Alibre files for hire? I have several (maybe 50-100) Alibre part/assembly/and drawing files that I need converted to Solidworks. They were created using Alibre 2011, which i no longer have. I understand Geomagic can export to the appropriate Solidworks file format. Thank you.

Eric,
You should understand that while Geomagic will convert the files to a SLDPRT or SLDASM file they are really just step files that Solidworks can read. They do not always translate cleanly.

Thanks, B.E., "dumb solids" wouldn't be helpful to me. I guess i was under the impression there was an add-on called "Translate", which could create fully functioning Solidworks models upon export? Am i incorrect on that?

I have Translate , I am going to have to research this and get back to you .
I have Solid works and Geomagic design on the same computer So I am going to have to export a file to solidworks then open it to see what is there . I have done a lot of work where I have exported Geomagic/Alibre files to a Solidworks user, and there were always complaints.

Ok Eric.
The part exports to Solidworks Ok , If you have an assembly you have to export all of the components associated with it. It then shows the design tree ok .

i'm new to this forum, so i am not sure if it's acceptable to solicit vendors, but if it is, are you interested in doing this for me and would you have a rough idea of cost for 50 parts? Thanks.

Whilst I can do this, I do not feel comfortable doing this for a complete stranger.
