Hello,

During calculation for nonlinear 2D case (two nonlinear material and contact elements) I obtain some instability due to large element deformation and after some distortion in contact area. I think that the solution for that could be remeshing the model but keeping the deformation and stresses values (taken from old mesh). The problem is that I have no idea how to do that (which command I should use). If anyone could give me some tracks how to do that or some advise in that I will be really glad.

Best regards

It sounds like you need to take a look at rezoning in ANSYS. This is a relatively new introduction to ANSYS, and is currently only avilable in 2D, but it is still an excellent facility for problems exactly like yours. See the help file for an introduction to this, or take a look at the REZONE command.

I am not sure that the rezoning is the problem. During the calcultion, the elements from one side of contact area are deforming a lot and on the other siede the elements are quite the same shape during all calculation. There is something like V shaped indenter bit into other soft material on my symulation and the elements on the soft material side are deformed a lot and do not keep the shepe of indenter. And after all the calculation are collaps. So I want to stop the calculation after some safe steps, remesh and continue the calkulation with new grid but I am not sure that it is a good approch.

Thanks for help

Thanks Drej,

You have right, it is exacly what I need. I will try this.
Thanks
