Hi

I've found an article to calculate shroud loadings on turbine blades but it refers to Roark 5th edition p294, to calculate shear stresses by a graphical method.

Unfortunately I only have the 6th edition and p294 is all about circular arches.

Does anyone know if the proceedure on p294 of the 5th ed is in the 6th ed?

Perhaps someone could (please) send me a copy of the proceedure from the 5th ed.

I do have access to fea but want to get a handle on what I'm doing first.

Thanks in advance

allan

My Fifth Edition has on p.294 cases 17 through 20 of "Table 20: Formulas for torsional deformation and stress". The entire Table 20 contains 26 cases.

After "compulsorily acquiring" an absent colleague's copy of the Sixth Edition, I can tell you that these same cases, with the same numbers and the same table name, appear on p.353 in it.

[My Fifth Edition is McGraw-Hill's "International Student Edition". My colleague's ex-copy of the Sixth Edition is the "Internatinal Edition".]
