Rod Coupler

I'd like to couple a 14mm solid steel shaft, to a 10mm x 1.5pitch
threaded rod. If possibly I'd like to avoid modifying the
shafts in any way (threading the smooth one, drilling holes,
ect). Also, I would like the coupler to be removable.

For the smooth shaft I was thinking of either screw-down
clamping sleeve or a simple sleeve with set screws. For the
threaded rod I'd prefer if the couple is just threaded to
match and I can screw it in.

Is there anything like this available?

Seems unlikely that there would be a sufficient market for a part like that to entice anyone to produce it for commercial distribution.

I think you're looking at a custom piece.

If the shafts are to be coupled with anti-backlask , then try the following

I would contact Ruland. They make threaded shaft collars, also clamp-type rigid couplings. Although they do not show the exact item you are looking for in their catalog, I am confident they can easily adapt a stock item to your needs.

Is this a rotating joint? Reciprocating? Structural?

It is a lever. The force will be applied approx. 5" away from this joint (with the center of rotation approx. 2" in the other direction). It will be a few pounds of force, so it will have to be fairly sturdy.

I think more surface contact will be necessary than that of the collar-type couplings posted.

I would only need a few of these parts so a custom tooling seems a bit excessive, but I may have to fabricate something by hand if I cannot find anything suitable.

I'm really sorry to make another post, but it appears I missed some specs when first glancing over those links.

In that link they list a model that has a 1/2" side and a 3/8" side.

I maybe be able to make that work.

I also noticed on this page:

that step bores are available, but not listed.

I have e-mailed them about both situations.
