Hi Guys,

I've got a project I am working on that includes installing a new roof mounted HVAC Unit. I spoke to the HVAC manufacturer regarding the support stand and he said they will typically have the contractor fabricate a frame out of L1-1/2X1-1/2X1/4. After talking to the client again he asked if I could find a manufactured stand in lieu of fabricating a new one. Are there any manufacturers you would recommend for this? I found some on Grainger but there is very limited information so it's difficult to know if it is the correct footprint and they appear very cheap to me.

TIA

There are support manufacturers all across the country that will build you custom Roof Top Unit curbs or stands. Often times the turn around time is decent unless the Roof Top Unit is highly custom.

Your suspicion is correct with the mentioned supply company, probably not going to fit your application. Your Roof Top Unit manufacturer should be providing you a footprint of the unit, as well as the weight of the unit and any clearances required. Any reputable support manufacturer should be able to take that information and fabricate a stand/curb for you.

HVAC roof curbs are near commodity items.

Almost certainly your contractor will have an existing relationship with one or more curb fabricators.

It will appear on the site as a finished item, as a manufactured item.
