What are the design guidelines or requirements for smoke extraction system in a space or room like communication room. Thanks

That has a lot of "depends" issues involved.
Depends on:
the equipment in the space;
the configuration of the room;
combustible material in the room;

I generally hire a fire protection engineer to model the space based on the equipment type and volume. They will determine how much airflow is required in various scenarios, smoke detected in the room or smoke detected outside of the room. Where supply air should be located,where exhaust intakes should be located etc.

you have to provide a purge system for the gasesous fire suppression system

not many clients want a water based systems

Thank you for your replies. I am designing the system in Saudi Arabia. We use ASHRAE Standards in HVAC design but I could not find a specific formula for calculating the volume(CFM) of required exhaust. Can we used a certain air change per hour value,ACH for the calculation? If yes, what value is appropriate? Thanks.
