I am pretty new to using SolidWorks (2007), and am having a problem with being able to rotate text for extruding (or cutting) on a surface. I am able to locate the text as well as extrude it, but I can not rotate it as a whole.

I have tried using the "rotate" button in the Property Manager window in the Sketch Mode, but when I select the angle that I need (ex in this case: <r270>NEG</r> ) it rotates each individual letter placing them from Top to Bottom, when what I need is for them to all be rotated together.
Is there something in the text string that is causing this?

I was able to create a text sketch for each individual letter, but I want to beable to edit them latter, and am looking for a one shot solution.

Any ideas out there?

Maybe I am not understanding correctly, but if your sketch is set up with a construction line of a given radius, then place your text on the construction line. Then dimension that segment at an angle from horizontal, for example. You can then change the angle of that segment to rotate your text.

A straight line with a controlling angle dimension can also be used.

I think you can go to tools/sketch settings/modify/type rotation/enter. Sorry, I'm on travel and don't have access to SW right now.

Thanks!

I was able to do it using "tools/sketch(tools)/modify/type rotation/enter"

I am sure this will be the first of many posts...in fact I am starting another one now.

Thanks again,
Corey
