Section II-D lists only class one of the subject material in the allowables table. Vendors give me the impression that classes 2 & 3 are difficult if not impossible to find. I was wondering if anyone could shed any light? Are classes 2 & 3 dead? Or does Section II-D only list Class 1 because it has the lowest allowables of the bunch, and thus maintains the code's conservative nature?

I did not look into ASME Sec II D but your guess may be correct. ASTM lists the compositions for Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3. Classes 2/3 permit a bit more carbon, phosphorus and sulfur. Tensile strength is higher for Class 2 and Class 3 than for Class 1. ASTM A 234 lists mandatory fitting markings.

SA 234 WP11 Class 2 and 3 are not in Section II, Part D. The only reason I can think of is that these Classes of materials are not that common and unless there is a need or desire for use, one would need to formulate a Code Case for use.
