SA-479-317L isn't in ASME BPVC.II.D 2019?

Hi all,

I'm currently considering to use SA-479-317L bars in my design. But the ASME BPVC 2019 edition doesn't specify stress information for this grade 317L of SA-479. Does anyone know if this is an ASME material? If it is then how do we determine/look up the allowable stress values for it?

Thank you!

ALangley, I don't see it in 2017 Ed, you'd likely need to use a close composition, 321, S30600 or something.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Many times I can find dual certified bar/forgings to SA-479/SA-182 for materials such as 304/316ss.

You might be able to find a forged bar to SA-182-F317L?

Yes, that is a good suggestion

@ ALangley
You are confused.
For stress see SA-182 and ASME II. Read with SA-479 and you can see the difference.
For bars see SA-276, but 317L is not here. May be you can use 317.
Can you tell us the final dimension of your bar, and the final use?

Regards
