HI there

hope everybody is safe as well as all your beloved.

Please, I'd kindly need a piece of information

my question is as follows

I have available the coefficients of absorbtion of sabine for an insulating material having a thickness A
Should I take two times this insulating material, meaning thickness 2A can I consider the coefficients of sabine doubling ?
should not, how is linked insulation characteristics to thickness ?

Many thanks

Hello GregLocock

thanks for your answer
I will take into consideration to buy the book from Baranek

nonetheless it will take time to read all the book that unfortunately is even currently unavailable even in Amazon.

I googled but without finding a clear answer.
Please, is there anybody in the forum that can kindly help me in this specific request ?

many thanks

The simple answer is no; the absorption is not linear with thickness.
The absorption of common acoustical materials (foam, fiberglass and mineral wool) varies with depth and frequency. Greater depth (thickness) improves adsorption at low frequencies.

Some reading for you:
