If you wish for someone to respond, you're probably going to have to be a little more explicit.

I've used UG/NX for over 10 years and I have no idea what you're talking about. What tools? What NX product are you working with?

HI, TIM!

I'M SORRY THAT I DIDN'T RAISE A QUESTION CLEAR ENOUGH FOR YOU TO ANSWER.

I'M WORKING ON NX-3, BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO ADD A NEW TOOL IN THE EXISTING LIBRARY. I'M A NEW NX USER AND SELF-LEARNER.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. HAVE A NICE DAY.

I don't know about Tim, but the question still seems to vague to me.

When you say 'add a new tool to the existing library', 2 possibilities come immediately to mind:
1) you are using CAM and want to describe a physical cutting tool and add it to the library
or
2) you want to make a 'user defined feature' and add it to the library that you already have.

Unfortunately, I won't be of much help if either one of these is the case, but maybe it will help clear up the question for someone who can help.

MR. COWSKI!

I'M WORKING WITH CAM(MANUFACTURING). PLEASE SHOW ME HOW TO DO IT.

THANKS

Nguyen Ho,

I'm not much help in CAM either but there are some other regular posters here that are and I'm sure they will send you a reply by tomorrow. In the meantime, you could read over the NX help files for CAM to see if it's explained in there.

Be patient and someone will respond.

Thanks.

Probably the easiest way to do it is to call up one of the tools that is closest to what you are wanting to use within UG and modifying it. You can even give it a different name if you wish. It is really pretty easy. Hopefully you are aware of how to browse for tools within CAM.

1.) shop documentation
2.) export tool library to asc11 datafile
3.) this should have output a file called tool_database.dat.
You can either rename the original tooldatabase.dat file and put the new one into the folder c:\program files\ugs\nx 4.0\mach\resource\library\tool\english (for inch) to make your very own tool library. Or you can cut and paste the tools from the file you created into the original tool_database.dat file.

GOOD AFTERNOON, SPOTTYDOT!

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP VERY MUCH. IT WORKED.

HAVE A NICE WEEKENK.
