Out of curiosity, What spacing did you use as a multiple of the thickness?

Wasn't my project, noticed it at a bus stop. If you don't sawcut at the correct time, it doesn't make much difference as noted in the photo. It was close though.

This is pretty common, even in cases where the slab was cut within spec.
 
Then spec should be tightened up; I require sawcutting to occur when conc is strong enough to resist ravelling behind the saw blade, but within 6 hours to 8 hours after finishing.

Seen this enough to wonder whether the sawcut causes it.
 
6 to 8 hours. I have problems with slab on ground cracking as well. My locality generally happens closer to 24hrs. Pour concrete 7am, finish concrete by 2pm, sawcut 7am next morning. Re-entrant corners are the worst, they really act as crack initiators.
