I have been trying to acquire a Schrage motor for experimental and lab purposes. A Canadian Co. called Lab Volts quoted around US $ 5000 for 175 motor, which is far beyond my means.

The power, voltage, speed range etc. don't matter. I will be happy with the lowest possible power to reduce price and of course a used one would be great. I am even prepared to rewind a damaged one if available.

Can someone help please?

I know of one Schrage motor that is still doing its work in Sweden. A 2,2 kW VFD plus a standard induction motor could replace it.

The real problem is where in the world you are. Transport cost may be inhibitive.

Hi Skogsgurra,

Thanks for your post. How much would be the cost of motor + freight that you referred to? Please let me know.

I am from the Arabian Gulf but my mother country is Sri Lanka. freight to either would be OK.

I am also picking up the Hiedelberg printing press trail that someone mentioned before (perhaps you).

I am sorry that I missed out the units in my earlier post. What Lab- Volts in Canada offered me was a 175W motor for a price of US$ 5000 approx. These guys are Lad eqpmnt makers and the motor may be a sort of one off thing for them making the price very high.

Still the power of 175 W is in the range I want although even a higher power is welcome.

Schrage motors were always expensive We had a couple where I served my apprenticeship for testing railcar generators, they change direction on a regular basis.

Thank you roydm,

Can you give me an indicative price for the smallest motor that you know of please? I may be able to pursuade my boss to fork out the money.
