Hello All,
Im looking at Sec 9 spec's and im getting conflicking information bases on Welder quals vs Weld procedure Quals on Thinkness Ranges.
SO here goes, Qw-451.1 states Procedure Quals less than 1/16" is T to 2t.

But Qw 403.6 States "Where T is less than 1/4" the range is (1/2t)( with no PWHT).

So my WPS is stating .012" t is the lowest Range i have. But if i used it to Qual the WPS should it be .006" to .024"
Or .012" to .024"
And the welder who is welding the PQR what is his T range ? .006" to .024" or .012" to .024"

Or am I just missing the Big picture?

Please advise. And Thanks for your time.

QW-403.6 is applicable to impact tested procedures.
QW-451.1 pertains to your PQR. You will need to qualify your procedure for .012" to .024" on .012" thick base materials. Impact testing will not be required for such thin materials. Review ASME B31.3 or ASME VIII, as applicable.

There is no minimum thickness for the Welder; however, you should verify the welder's ability to weld such thin materials manually, if that is the case.
