This may have been addressed a long time ago, but are you no longer able to use "section curve" to create curves from faces/bodies, of assembled solids?
Is there a feature that has replaced this?
Here is the scenario to better explain the situation:
Core model is created in cr_core.prt
Detail drawing of core model is sheet_01.prt
Core model is assembled into sheet_01 and views made in drafting. (Note: solid is not wave linked)
Contoured area is found, and shop would like to compound grind the surface vs 3d machining it.
Using NX4 you could use section curve to quickly section the surface and determine the compound planes.
This option seems to be no longer available in nx 7.5 or 8.
I know if I wave link the solid, then the option becomes available, but this then creates additional, duplicated data.
Is it now normal practice to simply wave link your solids, prior to detailing them?
Thank you in advance.
