Section in view: "Object is not logged"

Having touble with a half-section of an assembly.

Assemblyn can easiest be described as a tunnel(...open cylinder...) with a propeller mounted inside it.
What I would like to do is either to have a half-section with the propeller "intact", or make a break-out-section with the tunnel divided along my z-axis.

Probably not especially hard to do... but I have no idea how to do it.

So, I've tried to make the half-section and make the parts "non-sectioned", but it results with either an error( Object is not logged) or that I can't show the parts that wasnt affected by the section.

Help?

NX 6.0 btw.

Cheers

The break out section is simple but there are a few steps to do.
1) set the view to section "Active sketch view"
2) Draw a curve ( any type of curve or curves that are connected ) that is the boundary for the "break out section". Can be either a closed or open profile.
3) Insert - View - Break out section
4) Follow the steps in the dialog:
1) select the view
2) pick a point that sets the depth och the section cut ( in your example the propeller axis)
3) accept the cut vector ( default normal to the view)
4) select the curve(s) - If the profile is closed press apply, if the profile is open -> 5)
5) select the modify boundary curves button and note the helper line that now is displayed, drag the small circle on the helper line to make the cut area as desired. Press Apply when satisfied with the area.

6) edit the propeller to become non-sectioned, Edit - View - section in view
This dialog should be self explanatory.
7) Update the view containing the breakout.

Thanks Tomas!

Unfortunently, problem still remains. What was the problem in the half-section is exactly the same in the break-out...
One component, witch wasn't affected by the cut, will not be visable in the view.
Since it never was cut, the section in view doesn't work. Had an idea 'bout "Show components in view".. But nope.

Gonna give "pictorial section view" a go. Will probably get lost on the way though.

Any more ideas? :)

Hello !
when I have such an problem of component display, it is because of an interference between my 2 components.
So a first stepp should to check interferences by the following process :
Analyse --> Simple interference.

Good bye.

No interferences!
And foi, the pictorial section resulted in same problem AGAIN....

:p

Johanna,
Change the displayed part to the assembly ( from the drawing part)
Then run Analysis - Examine Geometry. ( set all checks and select using "Ctrl+ A")
- There might be some corrupt geometry somewhere causing the error message.

Run part cleanup under File - Utilities. It will not clean corrupted geometry but it might/will clean parts where the internal structures has lost sync.
In some odd cases and for unknown reasons this can happen.

Tomas

Ops! Forgot to inform that I no longer get an error, I just miss that one component.

Yep!
Everything looks just the way it is supposed to in the "regular" views.
The problem only occurs when I want to section the part. I have a tunnel, wich I want to have sectioned, and a propeller with 4 blades. One of the blades goes missing...
