Everybody, hope you can help me!
In a gear box assembly drafting ,i need to section entire parts through the surface of the box,but as you know i have to show the hand-side of the gear ,so the gear(rib) should look like a break-out view ,how could i do this ?
(have done non-section component for the shaft, and i have tried to use "section boundary "to adjust section range for the gear but not work suitable, how could i do?)

maybe the attachment can help me to illustrate my intention.

Thanks alot!

You can use Break-out section for this by creating the boundary curves in the expand mode.

glad to see you answer man!
but as you can see, I have to do a whole section through the box, so how could let the gear sectioned only by the broken out commond ?!(which means avoid the "whole section")

I had to admit I had a hard time to understand your question. By process of elimination if you don't want to use a breakout section, then there is one other similar function that will probably be it.

There is a function to have certain components NOT sectioned in a view. It is usually used for sections through nuts and bolts for example where the common practice is to section the say and engine block and the head or pump housing bolted on to it but to show the nut and bolt in full profile.

Is that the kind of thing that you need. If so I think it is under "Section components in View". The objects that you select must be components in an assembly for this to work.

Hope this helps,

Hudson

hope one day i can help other guys there.

Best wishes!

As to Hudson's comment about NOT sectioning components, you can also set a part attribute (useful for Nuts and Bolts) named SECTION-COMPONENT with a value of NO.
