When I try to section an assembly with parts from "Imported step converted and solidworks created parts', I get at least two errors, either "Sectioning at this position will produce invalid bodies, Please select different position" or "The model could not be properly sectioned by the section line. Please check that section line cuts through the model". The same sectioning works sometimes. (a) why is this ? b) If one or two parts create this condition, how to identify those part(s)? Also, at times a part which is visible gets hidden when "zoomed in". c) Are these problems connected ? Is this a "graphic card issue"? btw, the sectioning I am doing in 3-D. Thanks.

Try moving the section line just slightly off-centre. Often .0001" will do the trick.

Thank Scott,CBL for the reply. I did diagnose and there was no error. I will check again whether the parts are surfaces. As far the parts hiding when "zoomed in", I open the part temporarily, change or re-define the color (appearance)and come back to the main assembly. Now it is not hiding when I zoom-in, temporarily, but, repeats when I close the assembly and reopen. Though, it is inconsistent. thanks.

I removed one of the springs that had a face in trouble, now section view comes alright. I think that's what has caused the problem. Scott, I don't see a separate folder(s) for surface and solids, I opened the spring and in the feature manager, it appeared as solid(though it had a surface in error). I think, I am not following you.Thanks.
