select faces by square 1

Hi pros,
I'm running UG nx 11,

I got into trouble with select thousands of similar faces (as attached file)
i also tried to use Filter by radius but it didn't work in this situation.

- I found that Ansys workbech CAE software allows me to select desired faces by "square".
but in UG/NX which button should I use?

Does anyone can help me ?

1) turn on multi select rule, then set the selection filter to faces and make sure that the rule is "inside",
rotate the model such that you see it from the side, ( See the attached image)

Hi Tomas
Firstly, I really appriciate your kindness for helping me.that worked for me right now, but
My trouble really is:
In case that the model is so complicated that selecting faces by mouse dragging is impossible(by hand as you did in this situation) .so that,
a specialized algorithm with more accuracy need to be written.(as I mentioned that filter by surface acreage in Ansys CAE)

are there any ideas?

If this is native NX geometry, the red faces ( which i assume that you intend to select) would probably be "cylindrical". ( defined by a cylindrical equation)
( select one of these and press Ctrl+I and the listing window will report the type of geometry)
- You can then limit the selection to cylindrical faces only as seen in the image below.
So in combination with the previous... Does this help ?
