Hello,

I recently upgraded to a 64-bit Windows 7 workstation. We are still using NX 7.5.4.4 after the upgrade we've had some selection intent problems. The quick pick menu isn't always coming up, and especially in drafting and sketching the highlight feature might not be working or it won't show the selected item until another item has been selected.

I would have used the Help directory but for some reason with the new IE the Help search does not work either.

Anyone else experience this or know what settings to change to fix it?

Thanks

The graphics problem sounds very similar to what i have.
I run a Lenovo w520 , win 7 64bit, Quadro 2000 with the certified driver.
I reported the issue and it became a PR on the driver.

For me it only shows in drafting where no preselection highlight nor selection higlight works/ occur until i touch some other object.
I found a workaround in the Nvidia Control Panel ( RMB on the desktop) - 3d settings - Adjust image settings with preview - "Use my preference emphasizing" = performance.

The help search option is , i think , depending on a security setting in internet explorer.

Regards,
Tomas

I had an issue with sketch where once I finished the sketch, I could not select it as a feature to extrude even though my selection intent was was correct, I worked out that pressing ctrl-shift and U (show) first would somehow allow me to then pick the sketch as a feature...bizare. [ponder]

Best regards

@JHTH Thanks Jon, I will get IT to download the most current NVIDIA driver and see if that fixes it.

@Toost Thanks Tomas, I found the menu but not those exact settings do you have the menu ladder? Also do you know which security settings it is?

Pre-selection is the word I was thinking of earlier, there is no highlight for pre selection

In my case changing the driver did not help. I started out using a newer driver than the certified ( factory installed) then installed the certified driver witch did no difference.
Btw, what graphics card are you running ? Quadro 2000?
The menu ladder should be what i noted above : RMB on the desktop - Nvidia Control Panel - 3d settings - Adjust image settings with preview Then under the spinning picture there are a few options plus a slider bar, tick the option that enables the slider then slide to performance.

regarding the question about the graphics adapter, we also have another little ( it is little) annoyance, the menu text in NX looks "incomplete" in NX7.5 but not in NX6 ( weird), the workaround is to set an NX preference - User interface - layout - Windows Style- NX with System font.

I will give the driver change a try, I am running Quadro 5000 but changing quality vs performance did not make a difference.

Sometime preselection works sometimes it doesn't

We found out that if you move the screen (using spaceball) while you're selecting, highlighting will show. We are trying to find out if this is specific to Win 7 with 7.5.4.4.

I see this thread again active, i should therefore report my latest findings:
On the W520 w. a Quadro 1000M ( i wrote 2000 earlier but it is a quadro 1000) I have tried driver 280.26 and the Siemens certified 275.54 and both has the preselection/ selection problem.
Then last week i installed 296.35 and the preselection / selection problem disappeared. ( Also the problem where solids sometime displays as wireframe instead of shaded has been absent.)
But, the strange menutext appearance is still there in NX7.5 and 8. ( Not in NX6)

On a Dell 6600 w. a quadro 4000M i run driver 276.05 ( factory installed ) without any problems.

To respond to Kirsten, Our note on the preselection/ selection is that it will highlight as soon as NX responds "to the next action", i.e select one object and preselect another ( or pan etc the screen), then #1 highlights.
