Serial RS-232 datalogger

Hi,
I want to record an RS-232 data obtained from a serial port into a memory chip, and then to download it later onto a PC using the serial port and the Windows HyperTerminal (ASCII-format). This is basically a special type of a dataloggers.

Do you know any company that has this kind of datalogger? or good resources to make one from basic components?

Hi, a megabyte! thats a lot of ascii data, how r u going to read all that on hyperterminal?

Hi. This is not really the problem, I will actually use another software to get the data - other than the Hyperterminal. I want to design the datalogger to record up to 1MB of data, I might not use even half of this size.

Hi, you need to work out what exactly what you want. A micro, a memory and some trivial code is all you need.

Hi, do you know a website that has a schematic diagram of the circuit (or something close to it) with the name of components? I'm a beginner in electronics!

Wouldn't it be better if you tried to do it yourself, and come back with specific questions? In the long rung, it won't do you too much good to copy someone else's work since you won't have gained the experience that comes from designing the circuit / system.
