Sheet metal from solid

Hi All,

Please find the file attached.

I'm trying to add the green faces to the "sheet metal from solid" function already in the model. (so I i have less welds in my product)

My opinion is that this should be possible with this beautifull function.

Also my opinion is that the "thicken function" and "SB Edger rip" function are not necessary.

Can anybody tell how to create such a sheet metal part with NX....

Hi Lars,

yes, it would be great if that would work. Same story as some threads ago. It works with the old Sheet Metal from Solid. I opened it in 12.0.1 - but before I deleted the Sheet Metal from Solid (and Flat Pattern, Thicken etc.).
I've opened several tickets for SMfS. This topic is PR 9268470 - is already announced as solved in the overnext NX ("1872").

On the other handside, the body after Thicken and Edge Rip should be a classical task for the Convert to Sheet Metal command. But there I failed too and gave up...

Hi Guys,

How can we make sure the guys at development make this "sheet metal from solid" funtion better. Now it work but I thick it has much more potential.

Can anybody tell me if this function is developed for the way I want to use it? (Sheet metal part out of surfaces)

Development are well aware of the capabilities and limitations of this function.

Create enhancement requests with Siemens GTAC (if you haven't already) so your requirements are known. Do not propose solutions and HOW you want something done but describe WHAT you are trying to achieve.

Can you please raise a ticket for this part.

There is always work to be done and as @thomaskoer states, he has raised a number of tickets already.
