HellO to all great engineers!

I'm new in pressure vessel designs.
Can i know how to determine the required shell and head thickness of the pv?
What code should i refer? To be honest i'm not too familiar with all ASME code.

Once we design a pv, should i consider the external pressure and pressure too?
As for now, thats all my questions. I hope you all can help a beginners like me.

Thank you in advance!

refer UG-27,UG-28, UG-32, UG-33 of ASME SEC VIII DIV 1 for thickness due to internal and external pressure on shell and head of thin walled vessel.

miss4205, the FIRST thing you need to do, is determine WHICH Code applies, if any. It may be ASME, it may be PED, it may be one of any number of foreign (to the US) Codes. The applicable Code will typically be mandated by contract, or by requirements of the jurisdiction where the vessel will operate.

Once this is done, and with the applicable Code at hand, you may begin calculating :)

Regards,

Mike
