How do I shell an object and have one face open?

Build a smaller object within, from the common face, and subtract it.

Hi bearisle,

Use the Solidedit command-> Body option then the Shell option - follow the prompts.

Thanks Carpenter...I had figured it out....I was doing exactly as you described, but was not selecting the face properly when removing it (I was selecting a corner which removed 2 faces).
