Hello,

Where can I find photos, suppliers, and specifications of shield protection of hot lines for personal protection where insulation is not required for energy savings.

regards,
roker

Shell specification for thermal insulation, same as Bechtel, KBR, Kvaerner... Is there anyone not using the "shield" PP for hot and cold surfaces, piping and static equipment ditto? Supplier is the static equipment fabricator or the mechanical piping installer, after the pipes have been installed and the affected PP areas identified. Sometimes, this can be defined during the piping design stages, but is usually not very accurate.

I noticed it's the link above (last page)- see personal protective cages- you can use a mechanical shield- such as perforated metal plate (looks a little like screen deck material) for personal protection if you don't want to use insulation.

The screen is set off from the pipe/wall and provides an air gap between the hot surface and the personnel. Sometimes necessary where heat losses are desirable (for process reasons) or because if you insulate the surface(metal) it will melt! (Think smelter/molten metal equipment)
