Tables for K-series start at 8 feet. Use joist substitutes, small beams, channels or tubes for 10 feet or less. Refer to Vulcraft joist catalog.
 
Use hot rolled steel sections. They might be more readily available from local warehouses/steel shops. If you have lots of steel joists on the projects, them use VS joists as suggested above.

 
Another alternative, depending on loading, is cold-rolled steel sections - C and Z light gauge purlins. They are lighter than the standard roll sections, therefore easier to handle in the field. You do have to be more careful with lateral bracing and connections. Just a thought!
