Siemens NX Routing Template Assemblies with Sub Assemblies

I have recently started using the Routing functionality to bring in components in a group.

HERE'S THE SITUATION: If I have an assembly that consists of 5 parts:a pipe nipple, a union, another pipe nipple, a valve, and a plug, I will create an assembly (ID = TEMP_ASSEMBLY), then qualify it as a template assembly in routing. This allows me to bring in one assembly into an upper level assembly, place it, strip off the top level (ID = TEMP_ASSEMBLY goes away and leaves the 5 components). It's pretty slick.

This does not work when any of the 5 sub components are assemblies. Does anybody know a work-around for this or possibly a completely different method of working that I'm not thinking of? Can PTS do anything like this? The whole intent is to reduce the number of constraints needed to place 5 individual components. In my example the user only needs 1 or 2 constraints to fully constrain 5 components in an assembly. We already use Remembered Constraints, but template assemblies is even more of an edge.

Thanks in advance!
